We are a Bratislava-based drum band that brings the energy and music of sunny Brazil. Get swept away by carnival rhythms at any of your events. You don't have to travel to Brazil, Brazil can come to you! The band was formed in 2016, when they had their first official performance. The founding members were previously in the band Batatimba under the direction of Eddy Portella. In 2020, the band was joined by the "girls from Nitra", who moved to Bratislava and were previously active in band Campana Batucada. And some of our members are also active in other bands, because there is never enough music. And that's why we're a happy bunch 😊

...who are we learning from?

We learn directly from the best Brazilian drummers from Salvador da Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, as well as the best drummers from around the world. They are our instructors in many of the workshops and courses we run on a regular basis. For inspiration, we travel directly to Brazil to the center of the drumming world. We attend workshops in Europe and in the Americas, where our friends invite the best lecturers. We also invite the tutors to come to Slovakia. Today our leader is Biba.

SSamba-Reggae is a musical genre that originated in Salvador da Bahia (the former capital of Brazil) among Afro-Brazilians in the 1970s and 1980s. This style was born through the fusion of Jamaican reggae and Brazilian samba. It was a return of samba to its African roots and identity. The Samba-Reggae style thus became the basis for carnival parades in Salvador da Bahia. Today, it is widespread almost all over the world besides its native Brazil. Samba-Reggae is an energetic music whose rhythmic basis is formed by the dense sound of bass drums. Together with the penetrating tones of other instruments and percussion, they create the distinctive rhythmic structures characteristic of South America. This style can stir up the whole surroundings with its energy and evoke the atmosphere of sunny Brazil anywhere in the world. Our repertoire is complemented by various genres and rhythms from Brazil (Carnival Samba from Rio de Janeiro, Maracatu, Ijexa, Samba Afro and others), Colombia and Africa. And sometimes we put our own creativity into it and enrich the rhythms with great choreographies.

All our drums are from Brazil and we give them special care in the form of regular playing. And they are all loud enough to not need microphones, yet unique enough that they like the sound system.
